Our Growers

Our exceptional producers control the quality of the fruit, from the first stages of the formation of the outbreak, to the maturation, harvest and processing. Southern Growers & Traders imports the best crops in the country.

Respect for nature and sustainability are a priority in all aspects of our company and farming operations.

Organic Production

There are many and very good reasons to grow or buy organic products. Organic production and processing are based on a series of principles and ideas that bring many benefits for health and the environment. In Southern Growers & Traders we know it very well.

In our commitment to excellence and in tune with the new demands of the different markets, we advise and work, hand by hand, with producers who by ideals or trend, avoid the use of synthetic products, such as pesticides, and artificial fertilizers. This way we get fruits of exceptional flavors, colors and textures such as blueberries, apples and kiwis with of course organic certification.

Our organic production integrates cultural, biological, and mechanical practices that foster cycling of resources, promotion of ecological balance, and conserve biodiversity. These practices offer great results in the quality of nutrients in our fresh fruits.

Biodinamic Production

Southern Growers & Traders since 2016 is betting for Biodinamic productions. This type of agriculture treats the whole as an equilibrium system. Our biodinamic growers and farming operations are guided by the natural cycles of earth.

The Biodinamic production is a type of agriculture that considers entities as complex organisms. It emphasizes the interrelation between soils, plants and animals, treating the whole as an equilibrium system, avoiding external operations as much as possible, taking into account the loss of nutrients due to the departure of crops and other products outside the farm.

As in other forms of organic farming, the use of industrial fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides is avoided. Biodynamic agriculture differs from other types of organic farming in the use of vegetable and mineral preparations as additives for compost and aerosols for the land, as well as in the follow-up of a sowing calendar based on the movement of the stars.

We offer Blueberries and Avocados from biodinamics certificated farms.

Conventional Production

Conventional production is an agricultural term referring to a method of growing edible fruits with conventional practices to get better results.

Southern Growers and Traders thanks to the certification of Good Agricultural Practices, the adoption of the standards of the Global GAP system – which supports the quality of the fruit in all its processes at international level -, and the HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) seal in Packing, we ensure an adequate quality control and strict monitoring of food safety techniques.

The rigorous application of these quality and hygiene controls in the different export processes of our fresh fruit, result in a product of high quality and confidence.

Conventionally grown products often use fertilizers and pesticides which allow for higher yield, out of season growth, greater resistance, greater longevity and a generally greater mass.

These practices, despite the bad press and bad reputation that some fertilizer companies have generated, such as the use of synthetic chemicals, do not in any way go against the health or use of resources.

Southern Growers and Traders takes care of the good practices.

Chilean Blooming

The Chilean Blooming phenomenon is  already well known and appreciated in the world. Chile, because of its unique geography and its exceptional weather and soil, offer optimal conditions for growing high quality fresh fruits full of nutrients.

Chile is a South american country occupying a long, narrow strip of land between the Andes mountain rage  to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west. It border Peru to the north, Bolivia to the northeast and Argentina to the east. And its far south border is La Anatartica.

Our chilean producers work the land from the IV region of Coquimbo at the North to the X region at the south. Offering delicious Blueberries, sweet crunchy Apples and Granades from colder zones, to exceptional Avocados, Citrus and Kiwis from warmer areas.

Lush and fertile Valleys, with rich soil, watered from pristine rivers and rains, makes fruit grown in abundance. The Coquimbo region at the North, central valleys in the Metropolitan Region and Rancagua, Curicó, Maule and Los Rios regions in the South are largest producers of fresh fruit for centuries.

The regions are influenced by a regular high pressure system along the Pacific coast. This gives more rainfall per year, despite the fact that chilean dry season is long and hot. The chilean weather is a unique ecosystem for growing delicious fruits.

Efficient systems of canal irrigation transports the vital water to the producing areas. Modern system of highways and important port areas along the country, give to the exporting industry great opportunities and capabilities to compete in international markets.
